Congress Disconnects Phones Ahead of SCOTUS Ruling on Trump Immunity

Expecting an overwhelming wave of phone calls, the US Senate and House of Representatives have disconnected their phone lines accessible to the public. After the Supreme Court rolled back decades of precedent last week, Congressional offices were inundated with phone calls. Even more calls are were expected today regardless of the outcome for the ruling on Trump’s presidential immunity.

Congressional staff have not been able to keep up. “People realized that we are ignoring mail and email so they are just calling nonstop!” explained a staffer for Mitch McConnell. A statement issued by every congressional office says, “Staff will be enjoying the week of July 4th without work or pay.” When asked why the phone lines were disconnected instead of using automated voicemail options, McConnell simply grinned and uncurled his middle finger.
